readings and dis-

-appointment. today @ 12:15 iona college. poets including john b. lee, mary-anne mulhern, etc etc. the trouble with includes infuriating. we watched as poetry died multiple deaths at the hands of a coterie of resonant self-congratulation. like tuning forks, with no audible tone except among themselves. it is to convey a deadness of language, a draining of the natural vitality of words which lives in the oft repeated maxim and the redundant, the unaltered multiple iteration of the same. almost they could fit snugly under one name, combine and save the world their multiple. at least instead inspire reactionary response. form a new poetry by articulating the lack.

hence appointment. listen and be aghast, but say instead to drown to out.

how lightly we touch on the framed life, la vie en scène. though it may seem it is not to comics alone that we owe the boxed lifestyle. panels within (upon, between) panels insisting upon a structured coherence we remember as though (though not) innate. existing in troubled. discreet units. distinct transmissions, if not, adjusting rabbit ears and wait stay there i could make out an arm, i think.

besides besides. sampirisi in time, sampirisi in nomenclature. in.terested or .vested in the sign and the signifier and where have we gone from here (referent most obviously unclear). here is my (whose) concern: a leprosy of language, meaning unmeant and falling away: itself a tumescent nest of questions. and yet still the promise of birthing a fecundity in dissolution rests an urban midwife who moonlights and an undertaker; fraught and frothing, a madness of the ripe too empty not to fill.

Andrews and the digital text

if anyone recognizes that new medium does not mean merely new mode of transmission, it is jim andrews. incorporating a sense of play as did bpnichol. incorporating the new cartography of digital space. incorporating the mutability of texts. but andrews points only, does not dive headlong. not that this is not more. definitely not less than others. but as with asteroids the game as with Seattle Drift there is only a toe quickly dipped. no bather yet, no fully submerged. no embracer truly, no gills grown. maybe because the internet is not local, as is the book. it has no existence immediately in physical in traditional sense. still look at the ripples generated, the intersexual intersections by andrews crossing that proverbial gymnasium dancefloor. dancing moves beyond the potential into the kinetic. and the potential extends yet further beyond.

lately reading Her Lust Is Wiser by Biloxi Andersen and Ziad Nourredine. and the first thing said is why repeat? of course there is the resonance, the echo which in itself is pleasurable to some brains, some centres in the brain the nervous system seeks familiarity. is this enough? say yes because it counters the overintellectualizing of the poetic medium. say no because your academic side resists the naive, and also the willfully simple. say nothing because you've only read two poems and can't possibly rest on this case. except that many more have rested on so very much less.
